Hey XXX, it is great to speak with you.

I appreciate you e-mailing us.

You seem extremely qualified for our job opening, more so than the other 24 applicants I received resumes from.

Job requires: Excellent written/oral communication skills to perform administrative tasks such as answering the phone and taking messages, the preparation of mailings, ordering and maintaining supplies, basic copying, general e-mailing and filing, and typing correspondence. We will give more details for you at the interview.

Hours: 8AM to 4PM (Hours can be a bit flexible if necessary)

Pay for this Position: 13 - 15 hourly (we will decide final salary after interview based from experience)

Benefits Package: Dental and medical, vision, disability/life insurance, tuition reimbursement after 9 months, vacation and sick time and 401K.

Our selection process is almost done. Hordon only asks for you to complete a basic IQ(Intelligence Quotient) quiz to give the HR Manager.

Please perform the IQ Quiz here: http://HordonCorp.com/IQ-Quiz

Reply back with your results and an availability schedule to set-up a formal interview. My availability time would be from 7 to 11 AM or 3 to 4 PM.

Honestly, I am excited to get this position filled with a friendly face and looking to your quick response.

HERE IS WHAT I EMAILED HER & WOULD LOVE TO HEAR HER RESPONSE, BUT I CAN'T BE THAT LUCKY!!

Hello Anna,

Just wanted to let you know that the website you referred me to required a $19.99 subscription fee in order to view my test results - http://www.officialiqquiz.com/?nid=EWA4&sub_id=110 />

Because I am actively seeking a regular permanent part-time position, I do not have the time nor the energy to respond to any type of "available positions" that require #1.) Any subscription upfront #2.) Any down payment or cost of any kind.

Apparently, if you felt that my education and qualifications were better than the the other 24 applicants and if this was a viable offer for an interview, the IQ test would not be needed, given I have a Bachelors Degree and additional post-Bacclearate education, certifications and coursework. Obviously, being permanently laid off for the last 2 months has left me with a developing ulcer and has crushed my anticipation of finding a competitive salary in my occupational area. Needless to say, no income means that I may be facing having my utilities turned off (it's been a consistent 105 degree heat index for the past month!) Did you know that 99.9% of Americans are 1-2 paychecks away from being penniless?

What I find is sad is that your company is not found on Google, Yahoo or Dogpile, which are the BEST search engines in the online community; which means to me that your company, Hordon Corp. is not a viable corporation and is using the unemployed working middle-class population in order to gain monetary wealth, which is NOT acceptable.

Because I have been laid off from work from the U.S. Government and have the direct means to bring this injustice to the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau's attention, I will be filing a complaint so that you do not bring hope to another unemployed worker, only to be tremendously disappointed upon being directed to the IQ website: http://www.officialiqquiz.com/?nid=EWA4&sub_id=110 />

I'm sure you are helping "someone" make money by directing them to this website. I can only HOPE that your conscious will guide you away from preying on the unemployed in this sorrowful time of economic depression. I can only pray that you will find a means of employment which will give hope to someone, instead of destroying their belief in mankind, as you have done to me.

Please remember that, "what goes around, comes around - and usually with a vengeance!"

Kind Regards,

This look like another scam like the posting above.

Dear LUIGI,

This is Jenifer Kindt from Go Staffs Inc. Thank you for replying to our job positions posted on CL and for taking the time to send in your resume. I am the human resources assistant for our company. From the many responses I received you have been chosen for further consideration. I have reviewed your resume and I feel that your experience would serve you well in this position should you be chosen to work with us.

As you saw in the ad, this position pays a generous hourly wage of $14.25-$16.00/hr base on experience, with great health benefits, and also provides potential to earn significant overtime income if you choose to take advantage of that, when the opportunity arises. We are hiring rapidly at this time, and are fully prepared to make you employment offer, provided that you comply with the rest of the recruitment terms.

To accept these terms and move on to the next stage of the recruitment process, we require all applicants to take a simple 10 question IQ Test before confirming an interview date. This is a online questionnaire (5 minutes) that allows us to get to know you better before we schedule your interview.

Please perform the quiz HERE

Make sure that your entry is submitted using your mobile phone to complete the confirmation, or we have no way to verify your number to contact you. Please give us 3 days to process your application, after we receive the notification you have completed the final pre interview stage.

I ask you not to send me the results but print out the report or use the "Save to Email" option and bring it in with you the the interview. We appreciate your interest in joining our team, and hope you decide to come aboard!

Thanks,

Im glad sites like this are here, I got an email which I will cut and paste on here, Which Is pretty much along the lines of the previous ones. I did some checking online because It just didnt feel legit. The fake company name they are using In the email Is Go Staff Inc. Their website shows that they are only In claifornia, As I am In maryland this also sent up a red flag, Upon googling the number I found this site.

Here Is the email I recieved.

IAW PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Sent me an email from a job posting on craig's list. The email was from ***.

The return email address was a hotmail address. The email said that they would like to interview me but I had to fill out a short profile. The profile had a credit score checkmark box that must be selected in order to complete the form. SCAM.

My time is valuable. Not only did I spend time filling out the app but I had to take time send this post as well.

I received an e-mail similar to this after sending my résumé to a job posting on craigslist. They claimed to be from a company called "apn-media".

After googling and finding nothing I e-mailed them back giving them a piece of my mind about how disgusting it is to try and scam the unemployed. I'm a recently single mother of a 17-month-old girl and I told them that they might as well be taking the food right out of my daughter's mouth! I doubt my e-mail will ever reach anyone, and if it did, I doubt it would sway their heart away from this vile scam operation but it still felt good to send it and get it off my chest. I really hope no one falls for this.

My heart cries for humanity.:sigh

That darn "Richard Taylor"...I got an email of the same tenor from ol' Rich. You think these scammers would be smart enough to NOT send 7 replies back-to-back from a different person each time.

Big red flag! If they ask you to do anything except for scheduling an interview (face to face) then I would end it right there...especially if 20 different people are sending you responses to the same posting.

Use your common sense. If it doesn't feel right, 9 times out of 10 it isn't!

I guess this is to get business for the credit score company. I replied wanting to verify the name of the firm.

-----------------------------------------

Thank you for your prompt reply, as the hiring manager I am glad to see you are serious.

Your email is definitely appreciated. From your response we have gathered that you are qualified

for the current position, and in my opinion more so than any of the other 14 applicants who have

submitted their information for review.

To remind you, the job is basic but requires: some oral and written communication skills and the

ability to perform general administrative tasks including answering the phone and message taking,

the preparation of mailings, the order and maintenance of supply quantities, copy work, emailing,

filing, and typing. I will give you more specific details during the interview.

Hours: 9AM to 5PM (Can be flexed a bit if required)

General Pay: you can earn up to $17.00 per hour after your initial paid training (we will decide

final salary after interview based on experience)

Benefits Package: Dental and medical, eyecare, life/disability insurance, tuition reimbursement

after 6 months, vacation/sick time and 401k.

While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

My company will require that you acquire a recent (past 14-21 business days) credit report.

We started this because our company had some bad incidents with prior employees taking advantage of having

access to a company credit card.

We are prepared to set up an interview time for you but you have not submitted one of the items

necessary to satisfy the pre-interview requirements. We show you have not completed your credit report

which all candidates must submit before scheduling an interview. We are trying to

complete the schedule for these interviews immediately so please finish the report now so your

record is complete.

Perform the credit check here www.yourfreescore360.com/?id=YIkr0qVm

There is no cost for the trial and we have found they do have the most accurate score.

I ask you to not email me the entire report. We do ask that you reply with your current score

then please print the report or use the save to email option and bring the report with you

to the interview. If you do not return the required information as soon as possible it may result

in you being passed upfor the job.

Reply with the results and an availability time to set up an interview. My availability would

be from 7 to 10 in the morning or 2 to 5 PM.

We are looking to fill this position immediately so do not hesitate.

Have a great Tuesday

Thank you for your replies.I'm still out of work since the last wk.

of June. Fred's and Dollar General haven't even called me. I agree, the jobs that are available, they want to work the s&^% out of you, pay you minimum wage (even though I have 2 college degrees & 20+ years job experience) and think you owe them a big thank you!! What has happened to our economy has affected any decent jobs from opening up because pple are not leaving, afraid they won't be able to find something better, afraid to retire and everywhere I call has a hiring freeze on.

The Nashville Tennesseean had the audacity to run on their front page a couple of wks. ago...."Recession is Over".. Can you believe that??? What the f$#&!!!!

And everytime I call customer service for personal business, a freaking person with horrible English skills answers from the Phillipines, India or China. Big employers have done this to us. We go bankrupt, foreclose on our homes because we can no longer find a decent paying job and the Govt. bails out the banks, but not us?????

I'm getting where I hate the U.S. for it' screwed up upside down economy, lack of demonstrating our rights (prayer in schools)and the Legislature spending our tax dollars to spend all their time on whether or not to legalize *** marriage or marijuana when they need to get their a&^%s on a subject that really matters!!! And that is getting us back to work in a job that can actually support our middle class lifestyle!!! Anyone know a miraculous website that has REAL JOBS that are hiring??

At this point, I don't even know if I'll be able to get a job at KMart for the Christmas rush. But then again, who the H*%& has any money to spend????????????

After not being able to get a teaching job these last few months, I decided to look to Craigslist for some kind of viable income. Unfortunately all I've found is disappointment. I almost fell victim to these disgusting individuals from "JDR Services" who have nothing better to do than to try and *** money out of hard working people trying to make an honest and decent living. Luckily I googled the phone number and stumbled upon this website. This is the 4th time I've been offered a "job". Conducting Google and Bing searches is a great way to stay one step ahead of these losers. Below is my standard reply to those phony job offers by these fly-by-night companies that cannot be verified. I know it's laden with profanity, but people like this really *** me off!

Dear ***,

I now know that your job posting is a scam. you should be ashamed of yourself for trying to *** people out of their hard earned money! the fact that you feel that you have to resort to such revolting tactics to make a living makes me feel sorry for you. why don't you get a real job and try to earn a decent living!!!

F@#K YOU & GO TO ***!!!

Yes, we CAN do something!! Help me get them off viable job websites, please. When you get their email, click on "Actions" at the top and click on "Full Header". Copy & paste this information and send it to the Complaints website for the site they found you on. You can figure this out by looking at the email "To" information. The site security staff need this info to track them down & it CAN be done with enough people doing this simple step. I replied to ONE email for a Customer Service position and I have gotten close to 30 more emails from them for other positions and from different companies. The one thing they all have in common is the IQ test or wanting a copy of your credit report. CLEARLY, they are up to no good and it's worth it to give each job website's security staff the heads up to stop their shenanigans. Here is what the FULL HEADER will look like:

I'm SO GLAD I found this website!!!I almost fell for this!!

I got the same emails and I looked up the so called "GRB Management" and it actually gave an address....lucky for me I happen to live right in that area and there is no such office! And then I found this website...thanks!!!

These scumbags prey on people that are struggling!!What goes around comes around!

Anonymous
#180025

I have been through this on Craigslist - from March 2010 to now August 2010.A few names I have had a response from are:

HortedCorp & then GRB-management, with cooresponding email addresses: Careers@HortedCorp.com, amanda.haynes@grb-management.com, and denissesora71@hotmail.com.

I reply with a 'terse' email that I know their scam...but just get another reply like above, with a different email address. What can we do? Can you report an email address so that someone can stop their IP address? It's so messed up!

Just don't reply to ANY resume response that wants you to go to an IQ site or a 3rd party resume sight. Basically if you type in the Co.

associated with the email name, there are no REAL websites for these fake Companies, just total generic business speak.Vermon!

#179750

Well I am glad to have done some research they are still on craigslist trying to sucker people into their scam...Thank you I got the exact same emails as you have shown up above at 9 at night....hmmmm made me a little bit nervous so did some checking!!!

Thank you

Yep, they got me and the sad thing is I am a single mother with a son in college and a little one at home. All I want to do is work...why would somebody do that to a person.

As far as my credit report...good luck to them, maybe they can help me out.Thank you for the heads up so I can stop wasting my time and energy.

I have received over 2 dozen emails of this nature from various different mock corporations since May of this year. I say over 2 dozen because I actually have 24 examples sitting in my "evil email" folder on ONE email address. I've thrown away countless emails and I have several more email addresses that I haven't even counted.

I have been out of work since 2009 and have only picked up 2 small jobs in the interim, one of which never paid my last check before going belly up. Most of the legitimate jobs that I've found are trying to get one person to do the jobs of three for half the wages they should be paying to start with.

Unfortunately, my kind of work is being sent to India and China, so there are now very few jobs in my market which is forcing me to look on disreputable sites like Craig's List.

Nothing is more despicable than these scam artists who prey on people who are already down on their luck. I'm glad you have this website, though I think you should change the name to include more than hordoncorp. I'd be happy to forward those 24 emails if there would be a way to stop these vultures.

I hope everyone has luck- GOOD luck in finding work.

Hello XXX,

I appreciate you e mailing us and taking the time to send in your resume. Just in case the posting was not clear, the responsibilities of this position are as follows:

-You will be resolving phone calls and logging messages whenever needed.

-You will be scheduling the company meetings, and running errands for the company for things such as purchasing supplies and making bank deposits (you will be supplied a company car during business hours).

-While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

You appear more than qualified for our open position and more so than the other 16 applicants we accepted resumes from. I am interested in taking the next step with you. However, before I am able to conduct a formal meeting, our company require that you obtain a recent (past 20 days) credit score. We have started this because unfortunately we have had some bad incidents with prior employees taking advantage of receiving access to our company credit card.

Both myself and the company will prefer that you use this site to acquire your score as they are providing the check at no cost for the score(unlike other places). We also learned that their scores always report back the most factual and accurate information, and they are one of the most reliable trusted sources on the internet.

After you submit all of the required information, they will present to you your personalized score. Then, you need to email me the reported credit score, a phone number that you can be easily contacted, and your availability schedule to arrange an interview. I ask you to not email me the complete readout, as it will have private subject matter. If you hold a poorer than expected credit score, it will never keep you from obtaining a position with our company. I had a fairly low score when I began working here and I never had an issue. If you do not want to acquire a recent credit score, unfortunately the company will require that I move on to the second choice.

Personally, I desire to fill this opening with a new friendly face and I am looking forward to your quick response.

Have a great Tuesday.

Regards,

HR Manager
